Your Organization Is Your Competitive Advantage
— 10 Lessons from Leaders
At Nordic Business Forum 2026, our speakers tackled some of the biggest questions leaders face today: how to design organizations for the age of AI, build high-performing teams, and stay adaptable in a rapidly changing world?
We gathered 10 practical lessons from our speakers to help leaders develop their organizations and teams.
🌰 To give you a taste, here are the 10 lessons in a nutshell:
- Organize Your Company as a Heterarchy
Build flexible networks with distributed decision-making to increase speed, adaptability, and experimentation. - Replace Control with Responsibility
Give people clear business context and trust them to take ownership instead of relying on excessive rules and approvals. - Reward Experiments, Not Just Successes
Encourage learning by recognizing experimentation and the insights gained from failure, not only successful outcomes. - Build a V2 of Your Company
Use AI as an opportunity to reimagine how your organization operates rather than simply improving existing processes. - Decide Where Automation Wins and Where Humans Do
Be intentional about which experiences should be automated and where human interaction creates greater value. - Make Sure Your Tools Reflect Your Values
Choose technologies and workflows that reinforce the behaviors, culture, and ways of thinking you want to promote. - Treat Hiring as Your Most Important Job
Prioritize attracting talented people whose ambitions and strengths align with your organization’s mission. - Build a Culture of High Challenge and High Support
Set ambitious expectations while providing people with the resources, encouragement, and security they need to succeed. - Make Mentorship the Norm
Create opportunities for regular mentoring relationships that help people grow through guidance, feedback, and shared experience. - Make Feedback Like Breathing
Make feedback immediate, practical, and continuous so people can learn and improve in real time.

— A Team, Not a Family
“Feedback should be like breathing… And feedback should be something that’s a natural form of communication.”
At Nordic Business Forum 2026, we heard from former Netflix Chief Talent Officer and author Patty McCord about what it takes to build high-performing teams and resilient organizations. Patty challenged leaders to replace bureaucracy with responsibility and trust. She also shared practical tips for building teams around future business needs, hiring for problems to be solved rather than credentials to be matched, and making feedback a natural part of daily work.
Patty’s keynote is now available on our YouTube channel, so make the most of it! 💡
Why Great Teams Don’t Need to Like Each Other
— HBR IdeaCast Podcast Episode with Adam Grant

In this HBR IdeaCast episode, organizational psychologist Adam Grant explained why great teams don’t need to like each other. He also explored how to build stronger teams by creating a shared sense of purpose, encouraging productive debate, and making it safe for people to challenge ideas.
We took many learnings from the discussion, and here are a few for you to begin with:
💡 Prioritize Task Cohesion Over Social Cohesion
Great teams don’t need to be friends, but they do need alignment around a shared purpose, direction, and values. High-performing teams are united by commitment to a common goal rather than by personal relationships or social bonds. To strengthen alignment, make sure everyone understands not only the team’s shared purpose, but also how their own work contributes to it.
💡 Encourage Productive Conflict
The best teams are willing to disagree about ideas, strategies, and decisions without turning disagreements into personal conflicts. Invite people to debate a certain subject. By doing this, you’ll make it easier for people to disagree, and as a result, better decisions can be made through productive conflict.
💡 Challenge Politeness Culture
Don’t fall into the trap of avoiding difficult conversations. When people only share their true opinions after meetings, valuable perspectives and concerns never make it into the discussion. Create a space where people feel safe to share and disagreement is seen as a contribution, not a threat.
💡 Reward People Who Challenge the Status Quo
Create a culture where questioning assumptions and challenging existing ways of working is rewarded. Recognize and elevate people who challenge ideas and push for better ways of operating.
